社福及課餘活動助理基礎證書 (英語授課)

 

Course Objective (課程目標)

To enable trainees to understand the roles of programme assistant in social services organisations, and to equip them with the basic skills in planning and leading programmes, so as to help trainees secure employment in related field.

 

Target Trainees (課程對象)

Unemployed or non-engaged non-Chinese speaking eligible employees in Hong Kong who wish to work as a social services and after-school programme assistant or get a job in related industry.

 

Content (課程內容)

  1. Industry Overview
    1. Introduction to the overview and development of social services industry
    2. Roles of social services organisations
    3. Basic principles and ethics about working in social services organisations
    4. General operation of social services organisations
    5. Relevant legislations and Ordinances
  2. Programme Planning Skills
    1. Coordination and organisation skills
    2. Time management skills
    3. Budgeting skills and procurement
    4. Use of different promotional materials and platforms (e.g. techniques in creating posters and social media posts)
    5. Programme administration (e.g. data entry, filing, inventory management)
  3. Programme Leading Skills
    1. Interpersonal communication and leadership skills
    2. Monitoring skills
    3. Activity leadership skills
    4. Cultural sensitivity
    5. Dealing with conflicts and complaints
    6. Classroom management
    7. Safety awareness and measures
    8. Record keeping and evaluation
  4. Writing proposals
    1. The purpose and use of proposal
    2. Setting activity goals and evaluating their effectiveness
    3. Setting working timelines
    4. Allocation of budget
    5. Allocation of manpower and resources
    6. Setting contingency plans Big data analytic and conversion optimization
  5. IT Applications in workplace 
    1. Application of Microsoft Word and Excel
    2. Application of internet and email in workplace
    3. Tools or systems/programmes used for organising programmes (such as Google Form)
    4. Brief introduction of cyber security, data protection, computer viruses
  6. Career Planning
    1. Basic knowledge of career planning and Lifetime Learning Concept
    2. Understand oneself and set Personal Career Goal (S.M.A.R.T.)
  7. Basic skills for job seeking and interviewing
    1. Understand job seeking channels and procedures
    2. Gain basic knowledge and skills for interviews

  8. Course Assessment - Written Exam

 

Entry requirements (入讀資格)

~ Form five or above, or Form three with at least two years’ work experience; and

~ Pass the English entry test; and

~ Pass the entry test on basic computer skills; and

~ Demonstrate inclination for employment at the admission interview.

 

General Admission Criteria for courses of the Employees Retraining Board(ERB):

~ Eligible employees of Hong Kong (i.e. lawfully employable and not subject to conditions of stay, including Hong Kong permanent residents and new arrivals); and

~ Aged 15 or above; and

~ Meeting the entry requirements of courses, including industry/occupation-specific licensing or statutory requirements.
